Anime review - template
Hey Gym N Japan Fam! As previously stated we are bringing you a template for our anime reviews so that it can be consistent in the reviews to come.
Basically we are going to set out a few basic standards of what each anime will be reviewed under and how we can compare it to some of the other 10/10 anime we have seen in the past.

So without too much waffle here are some of the things we will be judging!
MAL Rating
As you all know that we absolutely love My Anime List (MAL) so it is only fitting that we start off each review of an anime with the rating that the public gives for comparison.

Animation
Animation can make an anime great on this alone so we find this one of the most important things to rate/comment on. Obviously animation is less important for drama/slice of life anime but considering we love action/adventure anime it is super important for us. If we do review a drama/slice of life we will give it a rating but it probably didn't mean much to the overall enjoyment (unless it was that terrible).
For example, Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade works and Demon Slayer are 10/10

Character Development
No matter the genre, character development is just so important so this will be something that we will heavily comment on. We will also be talking about their background story in this part.
This would be comparable to a show such as Hunter x Hunter

Fights
As you all know, we both absolutely LOVE a good fight scene and our favourite genres are action/adventure so this category of rating is only fitting. If we review a drama, we will likely substitute this category for romance factor or relatability or something?
Demon Slayer takes the cake for a 10/10 type anime with good fights - along with great animation

Anime Pacing / Adaptation of manga
Something that some anime do terribly for a variety of reasons. It could be budget, not adapting the manga correctly or just poor directing. Some shows rush it to try to adapt a manga into 12 eps when it needed 24 eps or maybe it skipped a key part of the manga.
We might not have read the manga but we will try our best to explain.
This would be how the story starts and ends and how it is paced with that. My hero academia is an example of a great adaptation - although the pacing is a little off (a topic for another day).

Opening/Closing Themes
This could be the animation within the opening or closing to the music that is played during them.
FullMetal Alchemist: Brotherhood would be perfect for this.

Overall Enjoyment / our rating
Taking into consideration all of the above or some external bias; how much we liked the show overall. Maybe the animation wasn't great, the characters were shallow but we still loved it… Maybe it was just hilarious and loved it because of that but we will explain.
Honestly this can be some of those short 12 episodes - waste your time - shows that basically are stupid but we all love so much. For example Konosuba is a perfect example of a 10/10 enjoyment show.

And guess what! We will have our first anime review for you next week with MOB PSYCHO season 3.
This week will be a short blog to set up the next few weeks of us reviewing some of the great anime of the last 2022 season and we will continue these into the 2023 season.
As always, thank you for reading to the end. We really do appreciate any and all of the support from everyone who reads our blog. We put a lot of time and effort into it so it is appreciated.
If you could go and share it on social media or even just tell your friends about it, the more we can spread our humor and love for Gym and Japan, the better the world would be.
