Kaguya-sama: Love is War - Ultra Romantic Review

So, it is finally time. After 3 weeks of being on the hype train, it is time for what we have all been waiting for! That is right, WELCOME back Gym N Japan Fam! This week we finally have the Kaguya: Love is War - Ultra Romantic Review! To be fair we could have done it last week but we had to do a post about our 1 year anniversary so please forgive us. AND I (HAYDON) was finished last week I Swear!

Alright! Let's go baby!!!!!

Before you proceed on WARNING!!!!!

THE FOLLOWING BLOG MAY CONTAIN MAJOR SPOILERS

If you havent started the show I probably wouldn't read on.. If you want to know a little bit of a background. It is a show about love between two people (Kaguya and Miyuki) and for months they play a game where whoever confesses their love first loses hence the show's name Kaguya-sama: Love is War. The show follows their daily school lives where they set the other up to try and get them to confess their love for the other. But you will have to watch it to really appreciate it!

Alright the spoilers may be after this point final warning!

So where to even start my god. First let's give the creators a round of applause, the anime season seriously went and beat FullMetal Alchemist: Brotherhood in its ratings…like WHAT!!?? FMAB stood at the top of the charts for many many years, ever since its inception into the anime world. So well done to Kaguya for beating it after many years. If you were wondering, the current rating of Kaguya is 9.15! WOW!

Next, the anime itself was breathtaking. This season had an element of mystery behind it which sort of kept us guessing a bit as we went through it. Then they went and sneakily ended with an hour finale!! I (Jake) was sitting there watching episode 12 like damn this is the end, what a cliffhanger, no way it ends there, no expecting another episode 13…Then bam the next and final episode starts to play. To tell you I was excited is an understatement.

Opening Song

Probably one of the great bits about the whole Love is war story are their awesome intro songs and this season was no different! They went with their go to: Masayuki Suzuki who has been awesome for the franchise bringing us banger after banger for each season. Along with the awesome soundtrack, the animation was pretty mint too and compliments it well.

If you want to listen to this banger see below:

Animation

I mean to be fair it is very difficult to comment on the animation when it isn't the spectacle of the show. The show is definitely more focused on the story, suspense and drama but they still animated this well with cool little fight scenes in their heads etc. I think it is also done really well in the fact that it is kind of chaotic but just works so well. Like this chaos adds the value of the show by showing inner thoughts really well.

Final episode!

And how about that final episode! I think the suspense going into that episode was just so bloody good! Like you never saw a lot of it coming with Miyukis brilliant behind the scenes set up of everything that happened. Like I think we are all head over heels for him too after being such a romantic in that episode. Like just marry him already Kaguya!

Obviously we think that the ending was very satisfying but we still want more! See you there for next season with popcorn!

And with such a positive review we are giving it no less than a 10/10.

Rating: 10/10
