The Most Anticipated Anime of 2022
What is happening Gym N Japan Fam! It is 2022 and we think that now is the time to let you know about all the great anime that will be coming in 2022! This year is another massive year for anime and hopefully a lot less delays with everyone’s new approach to coronavirus. Obviously everyone hates doing their own research or forgets about a show, so us weebs are here to help you out by giving you rough dates to expect the anime to begin as well as a small rundown of the show.
We are just going to go through the top anime for 2022, obviously we know anime is released seasonally in Japan, e.g. summer/winter etc. so rather than going through that we will give you the list and include the season/month it releases below. Add these to your MyAnimeList or make a my anime list and start tracking what you watch!
Without further ado, here are our most anticipated anime of 2022:
1. Attack on Titan the final season part 2
Probably the most anticipated anime of the year and it is about to start! If you haven’t watched the show or aren’t fully up to date, this is your cue to get started! You’ll probably see spoilers everywhere online so we have warned you. The previous seasons were amazing to say the least and we can’t imagine that the quality will drop in this season. As I (Haydon) said in earlier posts, Attack on Titan was one of my favourite anime’s so I’ll definitely be watching weekly. The last season ended on a huge cliff-hanger so to say we excited…is an understatement!
Starts airing - Tomorrow!!! Monday 9th January 2022.
2. Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War Arc
Alright we never thought this day would come! This would be in the top 2 most anticipated for the year because of the long break of almost 10 years and the hype of its return. This arc will hopefully cover the rest of the manga and give us some closure. If you haven’t started this you can start now and easily finish by the time this starts airing. The announcement of the new season even made Jake start watching, which is rare because starting a long anime is too daunting/ too much commitment…
Airing - October 2022
3. The rising of the shield hero season 2
After season 1 ended with so many unanswered questions and due to the popularity it was renewed straight away for another 2 season yewwww! So there will be another season after this! We are unsure why this took so long to make but 2022 seems to be the year! The first season turned the underrated and seemingly non-overpowered main character into an absolute insane anti-type-hero. He takes care of himself and does what he wants. The story line and character development was amazing for the year it was originally released.
Airing - April 2022
4. Jujutsu kaisen 0
Although it was technically released in December 2021, we believe that this deserves a spot in this list! By the time it gets released in Australia it’ll be 2022 so that’s why we are including it.
The previews of this looks unreal and once again Mappa have nailed the animation! We don’t really know much about to story or what will happen, all we know is that it is a prequel to the main jujutsu kaisen anime and will be important to the main story.
Airing in cinemas- No official date yet but we can assume it will be within the first 6 months of 2022. Based on other anime movie releases.
The movie has already been released in Japan so it is only a matter of time before it is released world wide
5. Quintessentinal quintuplets movie
Many of you may not even know what this show even is but trust us, it is GOOOD. Its a romance and harem so many would be sceptical, and so you should be ahahah.. I know that Jake took ages and a lot of convincing to get started.. Normally if you watch a show like this it lacks development and pretty much a fan service show. This show is not that, I repeat this show is not about pleasing you with fan service. This movie will finish off the story and we will finally have some closure that we have been seeking for a while now.
Obviously you will have a waifu out of the 5.
Jake's waifu: Miku - watch the show and you'll find out
Haydon's waifu: Nino, most aren’t about her but maybe it’s the tsundere type that I like?
Our waifus probably won’t end up with the main character but we are with them all the way!
Airing - May 20, 2022 in Japan but you’d expect it to come to Australia within 6 months.
6. Devil is a part timer Season 2
We never thought that this was ever gonna happen but the anime gods are with us. It has been a long time between seasons and when that happens it doesn’t normally get another one. This show is a bit weird but hilarious.
The first season has only 12 eps so you can catch up super quick. Although only short, you'll be wanting more and more each episode. Honestly such a funny show with such a random ass story line to it.
Airing - July 2022
7. Chainsaw man
This show will probably take out multiple awards for the best new anime because of how much hype this is receiving. The manga is super popular as well and very difficult to get your hands on. I (Haydon) have volumes 3-6 but not 1 and 2 , so I haven’t started reading and don’t know what to expect with it. The previews for this look unreal so you best be keen as! With the manga being rated so highly, this has got to be
Airing - 2022 sometime apparently? But no word on when exactly.
8. My Hero Academia: Season 6
As we all should know by now, since the inception of My Hero Academia into the anime universe, it has been one of the most anticipated shows every single year with movies and new seasons consistently dropping each year. This year is no exception, with the story reaching towards the climax of the the story, viewers, including myself and Haydon, are super hyped for this season. I have read the manga and know what is happening, so to say I am hyped for this season...damn just you wait!!!!

9. Kaguya love is war season 3
This show, to those who haven’t watched season 1-2 sounds like it would be boring and lovey dovey! BUT it is not, it is super funny and entertaining. It’s a show you start watching and immediately get engrossed into it. You have favourite characters, but not really any characters you hate! The story is well written and the comedy in it is so amazing. The love story in the show is not typical by any means.

Is it wrong to try to pick up girls in a dungeon season 4. Airing - 2022 sometime.

Made in abyss season 2 (based after movie 3). Airing - 2022 sometime.
Date a live season 4. Airing - 2022 sometime.
Bofuri: I don’t want to get hurt, so I maxed out my defence. Airing - 2022 sometime.
